Secretary's report

April 19, 2008 meeting

Mario accepted the position of President of the OUA at yesterday's annual meeting.  Jeanette's term of office as Vice President lasts another year, and my election as Secretary/Treasurer completes the election of officers by a quorum of members, namely, you and I, Jeanette by phone, plus Joy B, Pat M, and Dennis G, six of the eleven 2007 dues paying members. 2008 dues of $30 were paid by the six of us present, which in addition to the balance of $269.80 brings our total general fund up to $449.80.  Other members may pay their dues by sending a tax deductible check to "OUA/David Pierce, treasurer"
[Contact David for his mailing address.]

I will check with UAUS regarding a tax ID# for members records. The quorum then voted to contribute $5 per dues-paying members to the UAUS. The next vote was to use the general fund to underwrite the donation of books to prisoners for the PIRT (Prisoner Inquiry Respone Team) subcommittee of the Dissemination Committe of the UAI.   Members of PIRT are presently Joy, Jeanette, and David L of Texas. The 2008 annual social to celebrate Jesus' birthday was set for Sunday, August 17th, noon. Pat Murnin generously offered to host the event at his home. With business completed, the meeting was adjourned. I will forward these "minutes" to the UAUS with our contribution, pending the payment of dues from other members.

It's spring

On April 19th the Oregon Urantia Association met at my house. Pat and I were expecting only a few people to show up because there had been little interest. We discussed whether to dissolve the OUA. The pros outweighed the cons and we decided to continue being part of  the Urantia Association International. David took on the dual role of secretary and treasurer and I volunteered as president.
